Self audit: measuring Adobe compliance first

The single strongest audit defense is knowing your own position before Adobe tests it. A buyer side self audit turns a future review from a threat into a routine conversation you have already prepared for.

Why measuring first wins

An audit exploits one thing above all: that the buyer cannot state their own license position with confidence. When you can, the entire power dynamic shifts. You know where your real exposure sits, you have reclaimed what you are not using, and you can answer any claim with evidence rather than scrambling to assemble it under a deadline.

A self audit also catches drift early, while it is cheap to fix, instead of letting it accumulate into a number Adobe negotiates the next renewal up from.

How to run the self audit

Build your real deployed and used position from the Admin Console, your SSO and identity logs, and your deployment tooling. Map that against every entitlement you hold across transactional, VIP and enterprise term purchases. The difference between entitlement and genuine usage is your true position, and the gap between deployment and entitlement is your exposure.

Pay attention to the quiet sources of drift: seats provisioned for projects that ended, contractors who left, device and shared deployments out of policy, and users moved across entities in a reorganization without their entitlements moving with them.

Use the result before Adobe asks

Reclaim dormant seats and correct policy drift while the timeline is yours, so the number that would have shown up in an audit simply is not there anymore. Keep the evidence current, so if a review does come it is a short conversation backed by your own records rather than a fishing expedition through Adobe's scan.

The buyer side outcome is a clean, documented position, the lowest defensible exposure, and a baseline you control going into any renewal or review.
