The notice and the framing
A compliance review usually opens with a polite letter that calls itself a routine check rather than an audit. The language is deliberate, because a softer frame makes buyers cooperate before they have taken advice. Treat the notice as the start of a commercial process, not a clerical one.
Your first job is to slow the tempo and route everything through a single point of contact. Adobe gains when many people in your organization answer questions freely. You gain when responses are measured and consistent.
Data collection and measurement
Adobe will ask you to run scripts or share deployment data to measure what is installed against what you bought. The scope of that request is negotiable. You can insist on measuring only the products in question, on reviewing the methodology, and on validating the raw findings before any number is treated as settled.
Findings, and the pivot to a quote
The review almost always ends not with a penalty demand but with a proposal to resolve the gap by buying more, often on a fresh multi year term. That pivot is the real purpose. When you see it, you are no longer in an audit, you are in a renewal negotiation, and every normal lever is back on the table.
